This article is about the performance of Kamiwaza Wanda in Japan.
Background[]
In January 2016, Kamiwaza Wanda was announced jointly by Takara Tomy, TMS Entertainment and TBS. It was received as "Takara Tomy's answer to Level-5's Yokai Watch". Soon after the broadcast of the first episode was announced to occur on April 16, 2016, making Japan the first country in the world to see Kamiwaza Wanda. However, due to an earthquake, the first episode was delayed to April 23, 2016.
5 songs were introduced during the broadcast of the original season. The first 2, that are introduced in the Spring of 2016, are the opening song 'Wanda Nanda', performed by DAIGO, and the ending song 'Samba de Wanda', performed by the voice actor Kappei Yamaguchi who is credited for that song under the name of the franchise's titular mascot Wanda. 3 more songs are introduced later on in the Fall/Autumn of 2016: The first one is the opening song Bagutte Iijan, performed by the HKT48. The second one is the ending song 'WONDERLAND', performed by RADIO FISH. The third one is the special song 'Kamiwaza Promin-Zu', which is a song about the Promins performed by Kappei Yamaguchi. A video-game series for the Kamiwaza Wanda franchise debuted in October 2016 which the launch of its 3DS game Kamiwaza Wanda: Kirakira Ichibangai Kikiippatsu.
During its introduction in 2016, the Kamiwaza Wanda franchise debuted 2 manga titles in its manga line: One of them is the original self-titled debut main manga series, which is published monthly on Corocoro Ichiban, and the other is the spin-off manga Kamiwaza Wanda: Mysterious Joker Promin Stories, which is published monthly on Corocoro Comic Special.
When the franchise went on a hiatus[]
After airing its original season finale on March 25, 2017, the Kamiwaza Wanda franchise went on a hiatus until further notice. More seasons of the Kamiwaza Wanda anime series are yet to be announced in the future.
