HKT48 are a Japanese idol girl group. They are known for performing Bagutte Iijan which is the second opening theme in the Kamiwaza Wanda anime series.
History[]
On November 19th 2008, AKB48 producer Yasushi Akimato first revealed the plans for an idol group entitled HKT48. At an AKB48 handshake event in May 1st 2011, HKT48 were officially announced and became the fourth AKB48 sister group to be launched, with SKE48, SDN48 and NMB48 being the first three.
On May 31st 2011, the first round of the first-ever HKT48 audition took place. During the first half of July 2011, successful applicants took part in the second round of the auditions as it consists to be a singing and dancing test. On July 10th 2011, the final auditions were held at the Hilton Sea Hawk Hotel with 24 candidates successfully passing it.
On October 23rd 2011, during a handshake event at the Seibu Dome, 21 first-generation members of HKT48 were revealed.
HKT48's career[]
On March 20th 2013, HKT48 released their debut single under the Universal Sigma record label: Suki! Suki! Skip!
On March 31st 2016, HKT48 did a special farewell performance for a theater located at Hawks Town Mall due to the closure of the theater itself. On April 28th 2016, a new theater was opened at Nishitetsu Hall.
HKT48 is divided into 3 teams:
- Team H (Team captain: Natsumi Matsuoka)
- Team KIV (Team captain: Aoi Motomura, Team co-captain: Sakura Miyawaki)
- Team TII (Team captain: Emiri Yamashita, Team co-captain: Hazuki Hokazono)
Bagutte Iijan[]
In late September 2016, two of HKT48's members announced a new opening song the Kamiwaza Wanda anime series: Bagutte Iijan.
The TV-sized version of Bagutte Iijan was first heard on television during the airing of episode 23 of the original Kamiwaza Wanda anime season, replacing DAIGO's Wanda Nanda as the opening theme song. Bagutte Iijan was released as a single on February 15th 2017. It is HKT48's ninth single. Bagutte Iijan later appeared as one of the tracks in HKT48's debut album '092' which was released on December 27th 2017.

- HKT48 used to have their own TV show entitled HKT48 no Odekake! which broadcasted on TBS from January 25th 2013 to June 29th 2017.
- HKT48 is the first girl-group to perform a song for the Kamiwaza Wanda franchise.
- A trio of Kamiwaza Wanda characters, the HKT48-style idol trio, are based on 3 of the HKT48 members.
